Helpful Facts.

1. The socialization period from 3-12 weeks is a critical period for learning. This is THE MOST receptive a dog will ever be in its life towards training based on affection and reward. Eight-week-old puppies function at nearly an adult level in terms of learning ability. At 16 weeks of age, this level of learning ability starts to decrease.

2. There is a brief window of time between 7 -9 weeks of age when teaching "sit", "stay", and housebreaking is most easily accomplished. Take advantage of this!

3. Leash training to heel is most easily accomplished between 12-13 weeks of age.

4. The Siberian husky requires at least 1 hour of supervised daily exercise. If this does not occur, the dog will become restless and may engage in destructive behaviour.

5. Siberians require almost constant attention from their masters. This is because, by nature, they are “pack animals” and instinctively follow the rules of “the pack”. As their master you are the leader, the “alpha male or female” whose example they will follow by. Hence the importance for new Siberian owners to go through obedience training with their new Siberian Husky pup/s.
